Psychologist & CBT Therapist in Brighton and Hove

Psychologist & CBT Therapist in Brighton and Hove

I am a chartered psychologist (BPS, CPsychol 716681) practising Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in Brighton and Hove. I see adults and adolescents from the age of 16, in English and in French.

Where I practise

I see clients in person at Brighton and Hove Psychotherapy, 49 Church Road, Hove, BN3 2BE — a few minutes from Hove station and on the main bus routes into central Brighton. The practice serves clients from across Brighton, Hove, and the wider East Sussex area, including Portslade, Shoreham, Lewes and Worthing.

In-person appointments are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If those times do not work, or if travelling to Hove is difficult, I also offer online sessions.

What I can help with

I work with people facing a wide range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety, worry, panic and social anxiety
  • Depression and low mood
  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion
  • Stress and difficulty coping with pressure
  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Perfectionism and performance anxiety
  • Difficult life transitions, including relocation and adjusting to life in the UK
  • Identity questions and self-understanding

How I work

My practice is grounded in evidence-based therapy. CBT is a structured, collaborative and goal-oriented approach: together we identify the patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that keep a difficulty going, and work on practical change in everyday life. ACT adds a focus on psychological flexibility — learning to make room for difficult thoughts and feelings while taking action guided by what genuinely matters to you.

I also draw on mindfulness practices and clinical skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) where these are likely to be useful.

You can read more about each approach in my articles on CBT, ACT and mindfulness.

Background

I trained as a clinical psychologist in France, with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology from the Université Paris Cité, followed by three years of specialised CBT training at the AFTCC (French Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy) and a two-year advanced programme qualifying me as a CBT supervisor.

I have over twelve years of clinical experience across the public and private health sectors in France, Singapore and the UK — from psychiatric assessment in hospital settings to private practice. Having lived in the United States, Canada and Singapore before settling in Brighton, I am particularly used to working with people from multicultural backgrounds and with those adjusting to life in a new country.

Fees and getting started

Individual sessions are £90 for 50 minutes. If you are considering therapy, the first step is simply to get in touch — you are welcome to ask questions before committing to anything, and there is no expectation that you arrive with everything already worked out.
